Brigadier General (Retd.) Ram Chandra Khatry, Sukeerti Padak, is a distinguished retired officer of the Nepali Army with extensive experience in military leadership, defense diplomacy, security management, and strategic planning. Known for his disciplined, tactful, and empathetic approach, he has contributed significantly to national and international security, training, and administrative reforms.
Joined the Nepali Army in 1991 and commissioned from the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, in 1993, Brig. Gen. Khatry has served in a range of operational, administrative, intelligence, and peacekeeping assignments. His notable roles include Military Attaché of Nepal to India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives (2021–2024), Chief Administration and Personnel Officer in UN peacekeeping missions in DR Congo, Liberia, and Sudan, and Principal Secretary at the Nepali Army HQ. General Khatry honorably retired from the Nepali Army in 2024, concluding more than 33 years of distinguished service to the nation.
Academically accomplished, he holds a Master of Arts in Global Affairs (2023), a Master Degree in Military Strategy (2011) from Nanjing University, China, and a Master of Public Administration (2000) from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His educational background underpins his expertise in international relations, defense diplomacy, strategic affairs, disaster management, and human resource development.
Brig. Gen. Khatry has designed and conducted numerous training programs at all levels, including military tactics, peacekeeping operations, disaster response, and ethical leadership. He has authored several reference books and capsule guides for students and officers in the Nepali Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, NID, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs including Strategic Studies Capsule, Security Studies Capsule, Cadet Capsule, Inspector Capsule, Mindset Capsule, Foreign Service Capsule, Intelligence & Security Capsule, Governance Capsule, Contemporary Issues Capsule, Current Affairs Capsule and Strategic Affairs Capsule.
A recognized humanitarian and social contributor, he has led initiatives such as Mission Kartavyapath 2025, supported earthquake victims in Nepal, and provided relief to international disaster-affected communities, including Turkey in 2023. His dedication has earned him multiple accolades, including the Sukeerti Medal, UN Peace Medal, Rajat Mahotsav Medal, and the Nature Conservation Medal.
As the Managing Director of Eagle Think Tank, Brig. Gen. Khatry continues to leverage his military, diplomatic, and academic experience to provide strategic insights, research, and training programs aimed at promoting Security, Diplomacy, Governance, Environment, and Human Resources Management excellence in Nepal.
Fluent in Nepali, English, and Hindi, he is known for his ability to engage effectively with military, diplomatic, academic, and civil society stakeholders, fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across diverse sectors.
General Khatry was born in 1970 to Mr. Hari Bahadur Khatry and Mrs. Devi Kumari Khatry in the rural village of Thamarjung, Parbat district, Nepal. General Khatry is happily married to Mrs. Bina GC Khatry, and together they are blessed with a son, Abanish Khatry, and a daughter, Abiranjjali Khatry.
